Hi there. I recieved my new PC today, and after installing both the vga and the nvidia graphics card drivers, I don't seem to be able to find the monitor's 1440x990 resolution. Prior to this, I had an ATi Radeon HD 5650. I ran the monitor through an VGA cable (I believe). On the new setup, I have to use a DWI to VGA adaptor. My montior is an older ASUS VW195D (about 6 to 7 years, maybe) with a maximum resoultion of 1440x990. My operating system is Windows 7, the 64 bit version. I'd appreciate any advice.

I think I tried that from the Nvidia Control Panel. Problem is, it doesn't work the way it should. The image is compressed and there are black margins (I've tried both 1440x990 and 1440x900). I don't think it recognizez my monitor. I mean, it appears as Generic PnP Monitor. Could it be a conflict that requires me to buy a different monitor?

I tried changing the timing to GTF and now the black margins are gone. The only thing is that the image feels a bit blurry. Any clue as to why that happens? My refresh rate is 60HZ

make and model of the monitor?

you can try going into the control panel, then "change resolution"

There should be something called "output dynamic range" set it to "full"

see if that fixes it.

ASUS VW195D Around 6 to 7 years old I believe.

max resolution 1440 x 900, 75hz, 24-bit color

16:10 aspect ratio

I believe it worked. I'll have to see if it works for videogames, but things look clear enough. Many thanks. I'll return here with the complete feedback :)

yay!
