I have a Gigabyte Nvidia Gtx 960 Windforce 2 OC PCI-E Graphics Card and the fans don't turn on and it makes my pc crash because my CPU overheats. I haven't tried overclocking or modifying it, I have reset the bios and nothing. Please help.

Thanks in advance,

First off if the fans aren't spinning you may have not plugged in the GPU correctly. Make sure the PCI e Power Plugs are secure on the GPU. Also make sure the GPU is plugged into the Motherboard correctly.

If your CPU is overheating:
1. Are you using the stock cooler? The stock cooler is pretty bad. I recommend a different cooler for your CPU such as the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.
2. Did you apply the thermal paste incorrectly? This is vital and can really affect the temperature of your CPU.
3. Is your computer too dusty? Make sure you clean out all of the dust before turning it on again.

1 Yes stock cooler.
2 Yes I re-did it yesterday using Linus Tech Tips's guide
3 I cleaned out all my dust recently

The fans aren't spinning. They do at startup. Using OC GURU II but idk if it's safe to work with it.

If you want to know my situation a little better, I have made a previous thread. Here : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2764204/cpu-overheating-causing-shutdowns.html#16462441

That is truly odd. The GPU fans are spinning at start up but stop after? Well one thing we know is that your GPU fans do work physically. Have you tried starting the computer up without the GPU to see if your computer crashes?

Well wait scratch that. Recently my friend has been getting thermal problems with his PC (which has a very similar processor to yours) because his was using the stock cpu cooler. His computer would crash and crash and crash because his CPU was overheating. I got him a new CPU cooler from Cooler master and that instantly fixed the thermal problems. Unfortunately though his computer kept crashing because his processor was damaged. He is currently in the process of buying and getting a new processor.

So first off I recommend you to buy a new CPU cooler. They are so much better than the stock ones. The stock ones aren't even good for CPUs that aren't overclocked. That's how bad they are. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a great CPU cooler that I recommend. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099
Make sure you check that it fits in the case. Measure using a ruler from the top of the CPU to the side of the case the amount of inches. You'll need atleast 6.5 inches to fit that (It is a TALL CPU Heatsink.) Good luck!

What if I lowered 3.5 mhz to like, 2.5? I don't need amazing frames for csgo. If that was a viable option, how would I go about doing that?

Lowering your clock likely won't stop the crashing. And it probably won't stop your computer from heating up. The only real fix to this issue is getting a new CPU cooler or by blasting cold air on the CPU (Which I don't recommend). Good luck!
