GTX 960 overkill for rig?

I have an older AMD system I would like to replace gpu on. It's an A10-5800k on a FM2 A75 mobo. Past suggestions were to get the GTX 760, but now I'm reading that the GYX 960 replaced it recently. The cost is about the same. Would the 960 be a good fit for this rig? It does have the 128 bit to match.
