Hello all,
I have a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming. While gaming and in benchmarks the GTX 970, drops down to 0% GPU usage. This causes a short freeze during gameplay or benchmarks. I have been attempting to analyse the problem but have not been able to solve it.

My system specs are as follows:

ASRock H97M-Pro4
Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600mhz
Intel Core i5 4590
Corsair CX-750M
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming

Any help would be appreciated,

Tofite.

Answered your other post ....the GPU responds to load.

1. Run Furmark as indicated in your other thread

2. Use GPU_z to see of card is throttling (sensors tab)
So am I looking for 100% GPU Usage or 100% Power Usage?

Essentially same thing...if it has 0 load / Usage, it draws almost no power... at 100% usage it should draw 100% of TDP. At full Furmark load, you should draw 110-112% overclocked.

Look at blue lettering in upper left hand corner TDP = ?

Now look at GPUz sensors tab when at max load and see if card is throttling.

I did some benchmarks in Unigine Valley, found that the card never reaches 100%, only 98%. As well the card's Power % only ever reaches 61%. Could this have something to do with it?

Also in GPU-Z, while running the PCI-E render test, I checked the Power Consumption graph in the Sensors tab, it states that the card is only using 48-51% TDP.

You looking at sensors tab ? If your goal is to see if your card hits 100%, Furmark and to a lesser extent OCCT are about the only things capable of doing it.

You will see % TDP in two places:

GPU Z - Sensors tab
Furmark - Upper left hand corner

GPU-Z will also tell you if card is throttling .... graph changes color
