Hi

My gtx 970 g1 gaming from gigabyte is showing some artifacts even on the desktop. This only happens when I install nvidia display drivers. Without the drivers (can't set it to 1080p) it runs just fine without any problems. When I install the driver the screen shows artifacts and freezes and nothing apart from reboot can be done.

Does anyone have an idea how this could be fixed ? Change the thermal paste ? Underclock the card ?

I already tried updating the card bios. RMA is not an option as this is a second hand card. I have another 970 the exact same one and everything works ok so I guess this is a problem with this card in particular.

best regards

is there anyway to underclockit with bios update ? I cant use MSI afterburner without installing the driver and when I install the driver the PC is unusable because the screen freezes after few seconds

Yes there is but i'm not sure how to do that. I done at once but on AMD card i don't know the procedure on NVIDIA. You need to download BIOS and modified it but as i said i don't know how to do it. You could try to find some tutorial on the internet and if you manage to modify it, after that, all you need to do is flash that BIOS and hope it works.
Here is a nice guide http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/guide-for-flashing-bios-of-nvidia-gpu.119955/
