GTX 970 Cooling

Hi, I have GTX 970. While playing PUBG and automatic fan speed, my temp is ~80C and fan speed 65%. I created a custom curve (ss:https://gyazo.com/6f77aa140264e7e3ab2fb0f3c009262e) but in PUBG fan speed will hit 85% but temp will stay at 80C. I think the problem might be thermal paste? I got this card 1-2years ago and never changed the paste so it's probably dried out? What do u guys say?

I have the same card and I had those same symptoms, thermal change and fan curve that looks like this, got the temp down to 72-74c in PUBG, so I would suggest doing both yes.

Not really concerned about how dangerous those temps are, but how 20% increase in fan speed does nothing to temp

It's possibly boosting higher, hence generating more heat.

I dont think i noticed any difference in performance and gpu usage was already 100
