I have a fairly simple question. I play games like GTA V and CS:GO. Over time, I want to upgrade the CPU, GPU, and Motherboard. However, I just don't have the money yet for an i7, but I have enough for the GTX 970. Right now, I'm using a crappy GTX 650. My question is, will the 970 give me any performance boost compared to the 650 while using the same CPU? Eventually I will buy an i7 or i5 but I want to know if i will see a performance difference with a 970 right now.

Solution
yes it will but it will just allow you to slightly raise graphical settings, I would get an i5 4460 and new mobo for around 250$ then save up for the gtx 970. The i5 will raise frame rates and stop stuttering a gtx 970 will not unless your trying to max out settings on a gtx 650 :p
