Gtx 970, idle temp gone up after going 4k normal ?

I noticed that the temp of my gtx 970 palit jetstream has gone up to 50-60 while idle from 40-45 on my old 1080p monitor. Is this normal ?

gpu temps under 70°c are very safe can change your fan curve to keep it cooler at idle. I think my gpu fans turn on at 65° and cool it back down to 50°

What is its temps under load?

While playing battlefield 4 the temp goes up to 70, Fan duty also goes to 70%.

I have the gtx 970 palit jetstream, the fan will remain off untill the temp goes to 60.

Should i change it so the fan is constantly on to get lower idle temps or is this normal ?

Well your gpu is now even at idle rendering 4K on your desktop and not 1080p so I'd say it's normal. I'd set a more aggressive fan curve though.

So it would be smart to keep the fan on even when idle and not keep it off untill the temp reaches 60 ?

There is nothing wrong letting it sit in the 50s with the fan off. I would just run the fan on low, most coolers are silent when running at 10%.

most coolers fans dont even sit off at all and are on all the time. Its going to run warmer because technically its working to display 4k and not 1080p. The fan thing is up to you. As long as its not overheating during load you're fine.
