I was wondering should I get a GTX 970 or 980 for 1440p gaming? I would be playing games such as the Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight when they come out, and I would like to be able to go as graphically high as possible at 1440p, while still achieving an average of 60 FPS. Also what 1440p monitor would be the best to get? I was thinking a non-mainstream brand because usually the less well known brand ones are still good, and much cheaper like for example monoprice's monitors, but I would like to hear what other people think.

If you want the best performance for the price at 1440p I would go with 970 sli. If you want to stick with one card the 980 is a solid choice. It is about 15% faster than the 970 with a $250 price premium.

Alright, my motherboard actually does not even support SLI. Also single card solutions are almost always the way to go IMO if possible just because SLI does not scale well with all games (have a laptop with sli mobile GPUs, and half the time only the main one is even running). To be able to get say two GTX 970s in SLI I would have to get a new motherboard, and a new processor and a new cooler so that they would work with the 1150 socket (I am currently using an i5-2500k @4.5ghz so I am stuck on a 1155 socket). Thank you for the input!
