so i want to have a triple 1080p display 2 screens for facebook, teamspeak, reddit, youtube ect and my main for gaming im willing to buy a 980 but if i can get away with a 970 it would be sweet.

Solution
a 970 should be ok for triple 1080p display gaming; just take a look at the 1440p benching numbers and multiply them by 2/3, that should show you how many fps you'll get with the same settings with x3 1080p monitors.

the 980 will be better, but in the end it depends on what you're playing, and whether you want to compromise a little with AA settings.
You could definitely get away with a 970. The 970 has the potential that you need for everything you need to do. That includes a dual monitor setup, and any games you want to play.

but i need it too support triple displays

It can also do that easily.

ok let me help you on this; I have been running triple 1080p monitors since the HD6950 radeon cards were around. The GTX 970 and 980 are both powerful cards. For cards to run 1080p are pretty easy for cards these days it only becomes stressful once you scale up to 1440p.

Now this also raises a second point, are you wanting to play games in panoramic view or just use one monitor for games and the other 2 for web browsing and other stuff like that? If so, a 970 will be plenty of power for you without even thinking twice it will be awesome for you.

If you want to use it for panoramic gaming, then a 970 will still be fine but you will get a small drop in frame rate.

I hope this helps
