[SOLVED] Gtx 970 or r9 290x

Hi. Im looking to trade my gigabyte gtx 970 g1 for a asus matrix r9 290x because my monitor happens to have freesync. also my psu is a corsair cx 550m so will it be enough? my cpu is a stock ryzen 1700.
so all things considered should i go for the trade or maybe try for an rx 480 and pay a bit extra

The 290x is faster but won't run on your psu. The 970 performs only a tiny bit worse than a rx480 but might not be worth it depending on how much you are able to get for your 970.

I don't think it's worth it, stick with your GTX 970. Free sync is nice to have, the R9 290x performs better, quite a lot actually but the hassle you would have to go though by getting a new PSU is not really worth the upgrade you would get.

I'd be inclined to go for an RX 580 as it's being offered with three free games; same goes for the RX 570. If your budget restricts you to a second-hand RX 480 then make sure it's not been used for GPU mining. Easier said than done of course.
