Hello, I am due an upgrade from my R7 265.
I have two cards in my sight right now, and it is the GTX 970 and the R9 390.
What I have come to understand is that the R9 390 is more expensive than the 970, yet right now, there is a great deal on Amazon for an XFX R9 390, and was wondering if I should go ahead and buy this one, or spend a bit more and get a different brand, maybe the 970? I also know that the 970 has the 3.5GB GDDR5 issue, so I don't know if it is still a worthy card.
I play at 1080p 60Hz
Thanks!

Solution
@1080 p there is no reason not to get the 970. It's just as fast if not faster, it uses less power and it's more affordable. Some are coming with a free AAA game as well. just some thoughts.

Hmmm I see not in north america so no game.

Look at this.

this will crush 1080p without issue. 3.5 GB will never come into play for you unless you are going ape with skyrim mods.
Hey, I just received today my brand new MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 100ME Limited Edition, and it's even more than amazing. For instance, it's running on an ultra-hd resolution, 2560x1080, "The Crew". all of the settings on ultra. and locked at 60fps, not just 30fps, let alone the colors and the effects, I can actually feel the wind that's moving the trees' foliage. It's so beautiful. Also, you can hear the fans only in very intensive gaming, in easy one, just a single one it's barely needed. And the last crucial factor it's about the dimension, it's length actually that's it's not too big, because I have just a middle tower case, the NZXT Phantom 410, and more than two hard disks. It it would be longer, not only that I would had to remove the special fan designed to cool the graphic card, but also the middle module for the hard-drives. Later, my NVIDIA GeForce experience has to download another driver in order to embellish even more my gaming life ... Cheers ...

2560x1080 isn't ultra hd. It's some weird off shoot resolution. it goes 1920x1080 1080p or 1k resolution or Full HD FHD/ 2560x1080 is somewhere between 2k and 2.5k qhd which is also technically still only 1080p. And 2k is 2560x1440 w hich is also 1440p and quad hd even though 1440p isn't 4 times 1080p QHD. Then 3840x2160 which is 2160 p but we call it 4k or ultra hd UHD. But even though the naming is incredibly stupid considering, that the first number is 3840 and every other resolution has been over whatever k resolution it's representing. The nomenclature is really dumb.
