gtx 970 potential power problem?

Hello, i would like to upgrade my gpu from a gtx 560 ti to a gtx 970. however unsure if my psu will power it, this is id like to get the asus gtx 970 and it had 1 8 pin connector but my psu only has a 6 pin and a 6 pin with two extra connectors like this: http://www.mechbgon.com/build/8-pin_pcie.jpg
and so im unsure if i can run it my specs are;

Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz

Use the 6+2 pin PCIE power connector as you mentioned. It will combined as a 8 pin.
Your psu is fine to use.

Yes but the 6+2 should work. It is a standard.
