Okay so I have some questions that I'm pretty concerned about.
I've never really had a really good comp or anything but I just got my GTX 970 Strix put into my computer and I hear idle temps w/o the fan on should be around 30-40 but when mine is off my idle temp is 50-55 so I put my fans on to 35% and it goes down to around 36, should I be fine or will turning the fans on 24/7 be hurting the life of my comp or is the 50-55 okay to let it sit on?

Solution
Your temps are OK. But it sounds like your case may need better air flow. Most gfx cards GPUs have a max temp of nearly 100C. Run something like Furmark and check the temps at load. Then you will know if you have a real concern.

Yup as what clutchc said its OK. Your casing needs more airflow improvement. Use msi afterburner to run the fans they will help you. My msi gtx970 gaming runs 32C°-40C° and Max 50C° while gaming on ultra.
