Hi, everyone! I have a question about GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 cards. I have an ASUS STRIX GTX 970 slightly OC and gaming mostly in Full HD res. So I am not going to switch to 1440p or 4k in the near future. My main question is - would it be a good idea to sell my GTX 970 and buy GTX 1060 card (in terms of more futureproof VRAM amount - 3.5 Gb vs 6 Gb) or should I wait and buy GTX 1070 (which is an overkill for 1080 and also much more expensive) or just relax and enjoy my GTX 970 till next NVIDIA GPUs arrival next year. Also I am still running my system on a bit dated i5 2500k - OC 4.5 Ghz.

Thanks a lot!

I'm in a similar situation and honestly although the 1070 looks great... (1060 doesnt seem like much of an upgrade for us), i think im going to wait till the 11xx series comes out and look for a 1170.
Unless youre having issues with the games youre playing right now, then look for an 1170, OR look for a discounted/used 980 ti

I had a Strix 970 OC and it would gain about 15-17% when manually overclocked. I sold it to get the Superclocked GTX 1060 6GB, and it would only gain about 3-5% from a manual overclock. So the OC'd 970 would score the same in Firestrike as the 1060, so I'm sure an OC'd 980 would score much better than a 1060 OC or not. The 1060 is only faster than a stock 980, not an overclocked 980.

If you have a 970 and want to upgrade, you'll want at least a 1070, but honestly the 970 is good for now.

Valid point. I also have my Firestrike tests that show OC 970 is equal to 1060.
