if i was going to buy a new pc . when picking my gpu, would I be better off buying a gtx 980 or 970 . both would be bought used. gtx 980 being over 100 euro more.i will be playing it at 1080p .i will also be pairing this with a fx 6300

Solution
the 970 absolutely. it performs pretty much on par at 1080, and the only real difference emerges at 1440p. it does have .5 GB less of full speed RAM, but at 1080p this is very hard to detect. that card will run many games at ultra 60 FPS at 1080.

YOu currently can get a lightly used GTX 970 on ebay for around $220 and a new one for around $260 , i remember paying $200 for a new Gtx 660 3 years ago. The 970 is twice as powerful as the 660 so i must admit while $220 is some money its very reasonable for what you get , I don't have anything over 1080p in my house so until i bother with 4k the 970 will do the job for several years to come. i was glued to the 60 series nvidia cards thinking they were the sweetspot to gaming video cards and to some degree i still do but i finally decided to try the hardcore sweetspot finally lol
