Hello

Im thinking about changing from desktop to mobile gaming (just to try it)
Would this change make a noticable drop in performance?

The resolution of the lamtop im looking at is 1080p so if the gtx 980m is fine for that its fine for me

The laptop: Asus G751JY-T7372DD

My pc gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming
I7 6700k
Asus maximus viii hero
8gb ddr4 corsair vengance lpx 2666
Xfx pro series xxx 850w
Samsung sm951 pcie ssd
1tb wd black hdd
Zalman z11 plus
Raijintek triton aio

I would also like to ask how much is it sane to pay up from my pc as i offered my pc+ 65$ for the laptop is that ok? I dont exactly have more money now 🙁

thank you for your help 😉

Most games were 10-15 fps slower on the 980m.
Do not judge directly that GTX970 is the better option from GTX980m,
if you really really in need of a portable gaming laptop, GTX980m is the better option.

Basically, everything in laptops are weaker and more expensive but that is the price you have to spend for mobility.
PC is always the more budget friendly compared to laptops but PC is not mobile.

I think, you should better consider, what you want to have more, mobility or performance/price.

You will need perhaps a laptop with a lot more expensive than USD2500 to match that i7 6700k+GTX970 PC.

In my opinion, if you want to game a lot, PC is the better choice.
If you need mobility too, just get a mediocre laptop as secondary machine.
e.g. a strong gaming PC along with a Surface 3 pro (i5) should be ideal.

I have an nvidia shield tablet for portability
Im not really into spending more than 1500$ into a laptop and neither into getting a low performance laptop my brother has a samsung ativ book and thoes are not to my likeing 🙁
