Gtx 970 vs Gtx 1060 3gb

I really need help to decide... I want to know the pros and cons of both in detail and also the aspect of being somewhat future proof...

As for future proof , the term really doesn't apply other than the generic sense that older / slower isn't as good as newer / faster.
 
If the price is similar, I would always go with newer tech. It will implement more graphics standards that may eventually show up in future games.
And... I think the GTX1060 will be a bit stronger.
How important 3gb vs. 6gb of vram will be, I do not know.
In the past, it has been more of a marketing plus than a big performance plus.
