I recently swapped cooling solutions on my system, and then started getting pretty random BSODs in Window (Hypervisor, IRQL, etc.). I updated my motherboard BIOS and that seemed to work (I got back in to Windows normally, ran some things, etc.), but now I am getting Critical Process Died every time, even on Safe Mode attempts.

I re-seated things, but haven't had luck. It seems a Windows problem, not hardware. Any advise on troubleshooting steps?

System info:

i5-10600K
MSI Z490 Gaming Edge WiFi
32GB DDR4 3200 (4x8)
GTX 1080 FTW
Win10 Pro on a Samsung 860 SSD

Thanks in advance, all!

when you update the bios, you should reboot then update the motherboard all of the motherboard drivers to match the updated bios version. you might also update drive firmware while you are at it.
(bios updates require the corresponding driver updates)
don't forget any CPU firmware upates.

ignore the bugchecks until you get all the drivers updated. delete the old memory dumps in the minidump directory.
then if you get a new bugcheck provide the new memory or minidump. Ie put it on a server, share it for public access and post a link. Someone can take a quick look and see what caused the bugcheck.

Is there a way to update the drivers via console? I cannot get back into a Windows environment atm. I'm getting loading dot-wheel into BSOD 100% of the time. I can then get to the Diagnostic screen and do Advanced >> Troubleshooting >> and try restore, etc. but only console works (no Safe Mode, etc.)
