Was planning to buy GTX 970 but in some reviews it is mentioned that GTX 780ti is better than the GTX 970. So which ones do you guys prefer? and Why?

Also i am a heavy gamer

Thank you :D

Both cards have similar performance in games. So the decision really depends on price. And obviously the GTX 970 is cheaper and will be the best choice. Don't forget you can SLI the card if you feel you need more performance but that will be probably in 2-3 years time. ;)

My opinion would be to go with the GTX 970, even though a bunch of benchmarks do show the GTX 780TI beating the GTX 970 in 1080p res, its when you go to higher res screens like 1440p or even 4k that it shows that the GTX 970 can beat the GTX 780 TI. If you're like some people who like to buy 1 card now and then down the road buy another to SLI, then the GTX 970 makes more sense because in a few years time, 4K monitors could be the norm. So in that scenario, the GTX 970s would be a better solution.

GPU boss isn't as reliable, try GameDebate.

You will only really need more Vram when you game on multiple monitors.

That's actually completely backwards, most benchmarks for high-res setups (4k, Eyefinity/Surround) show the 780Ti pretty much always beating the 970, and even the 980 on several occasions. You really have to think of the 970/980 release as refined replacements for the 780/780Ti and NOT upgrades, because they really aren't, they each provide rather unremarkable improvements over their predecessors (especially when you aren't even hitting 3GB of VRAM usage). It's only for people who are on lower-end cards like the GTX 5-600 series that will see HUGE improvements in both performance and power efficiency.

I guess it is a big improvement in terms of gaming performance for the OP. As his signature has a GTX 650, which probably only runs current intensive games on medium or lower.

I would go for Gtx 970. Dnt have any reason tho -_-. Both cards are good but gtx 780ti is slightly faster than the gtx 970 (source: from other posts). You should also consider upgrading you PSU too.
