GTX 970 vs GTX 980

Is there a huge different between those cards?
Is the GTX 980 worth the extra money?

and no, I do NOT plan to do SLI, OC it or anything, I'll leave it as is...

There is a difference but save the 200 dollars and go with the 970.

What I can tell you is what I read alot in tech websites. GTX980 is 10% faster than the GTX970, but also much more expensive (at least in my country it is). An overclocked GTX970 is about the same as a stock GTX980, but even if you're not going to overclock it (I'd recommend as it is easy and those 970s are very OC friendly), the 970 is the best price/performance nowadays.

gtx 980 is 10 - 15% faster than the 970... totally not worth it.. if you get a realy good 970 lie the gigabyte g1 edition and with propper cooling you can oc it to a 980s level

In a 1 card vs 1 card comparison, GTX 970 pretty much wins outright (85% performance for 60% cost).

However, 2x GTX 970 SLI vs 1 GTX 980 is a harder debate

Get a Gigabyte GTX 970 G1. The GTX 980 is not worth the bucks because there is only about 10-15% difference in performance for so much more money!

Or get the Zotac beast that's faster than GTX 980 [ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 AMP! Omega Edition]. In general, 2 x GTX 970 is faster and better than 1 x 980, 970 is better in price than 980. It's up to 20% depends on what version of GTX 970 You have.

Just go after GTX 970. GTX 980 is definitely not worth the extra money.

If some guys in nvidia had enough brains to let out GTX 970 at level of 240-300 eur, they should've thought extra harder, and put the GTX 980 at 350-400 eur tops, but not 450-500 eur. That's just sheer madness.

Agreed. Really they need to drop the price on the 780 as well. Only marginal if any gains over the 970 for almost 200 dollars more. Some people in the marketing dept messed up lol
