gtx 970 vs r9 290x

im going to get two of one of this gpu, which one is better for gaming, which on is gonna give me better FPS and which one runs better with 2?

GTX 970. The GTX 970 and the GTX 980 are the reasons why the price of the r9 290x are going down so much. Also runs cooler and more overclockable if you're going down that road.

The 970 in sli will be cooler and quieter. It should also be slightly faster depending on the game.

sounds good, which 970 do i pick tho? cause when i look it up it gives me different versions, im going with Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard and intel i7-4790k

Depends if you're going overclocking or not or just want plain cool.

The gigabyte and msi versions seem to be most popular. I have a pair of the asus strix and have been very happy with them.

R9 290X if you're at 4K/5760. Otherwise GTX 970 all the way. Get the Gigabyte G1 or MSI Twin Frozr. The ASUS Strix is alright. EVGA and PNY sucks while Zotac is "Okay"
