GTX 980 on I7-3820

So i have a dilemma. Is there a reason my GTX 980 is running at PCI-2.0 on a Ga-X79-UD3, which supports PCI-e 3.0 with a Intel I7 3820 2011 socket? I thought it was capable of pushing PCI 3.0. And yes i have gone into my bios and enabled Gen 3 pci for display. Also I have updated BIOS to F20, the most recent for the MB.

Try running a game then look at the speed. I do remember awhile back, cards would downgrade too 1.1 speeds at idle, than boost up to 2.0/3.0 under load. Don't know if that's the same case in you scenario.

Well when I have GPU-Z open if I run it in window mode I see it jump from 1.1 to 2.0, but not to 3.0. So something fishy is definitely happening. Also, the main PCI-E speed listed on the left side is 2.0. *shrug.* This one is odd for me. I just dropped $550 on this thing, I want to run it at full 3.0 dangit!

The difference between 2.0 and 3.0 is only a few percent in the real world

Scroll down to expansion, the revision is 2.0.

But don't worry, the difference in today's age is 1-2% difference from 2.0 - 3.0.. AMD boards are still only 2.0, If that makes you feel better
