I’m a total newbie and I just want a simple cold backup that probably gets turned on once a week. Both are 10gb and both are well-reviewed. The Terramaster is $170 and the Mediasonic is $140.
The latter is reviewed favorably by Level1 (

) but I found a review for the former (

) that actually goes in depth in how it avoids the pitfalls of most USB DAS by not using SATA port multipliers and instead uses individual SATA controllers and an internal USB hub.
Obviously I don’t have a clue what any of that means but Is there merit in that? Does the Probox do the same and/or can I expect similar reliability?
Thanks
