GTX 980 ti 16GB RAM recommendation?why?

Hello guys!

I mean if you use 8GB of ram will I lose performance by GPU beacuse I don't have 16GB ram? thanks

You shouldn't absolutely need 16GB of RAM, however the extra 8GB will help if your going to use all 5-6GB of vram up.

All that VRAM has to be addressed in system memory. They call it a "Best RAM Match" because it is not required. They could have easily said 9GB-10GB of RAM but most dual channel configs go from 8GB to 16GB. If you would like to know more, check out the MMIO wiki page.

So that's why you supposedly need 24GB of RAM for the TITAN X?

With 12GB of VRAM onboard the Titan X, and the Windows requiring another ~2-3GB, the "actual" requirement is closer to 14-15GB of system RAM(12GB of addreessed VRAM that won't show up in system usage plus 2-3GB of active Windows processes). That is probably a little too close for comfort and considering the high-end nature of the GPU, 16GB+ system RAM configs are common for those interested in buying this card.

You certainly can run a GTX Titan X with 16GB of system RAM. Better to increase your overhead though, with a 24GB+ config.
