Gtx 980 ti or 1070 ti?

After seeing some of the upcoming games at e3 I am wondering if I'll be needing a gpu upgrade to run solid 60fps high-max settings.

I currently have a gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 970 which holds it's own in the majority of games still. I know already that it will be struggling once the next round of AAA games release. So I've been looking around online and I have found a few 980 ti's on Ebay new for $400ish. Whereas 1070 ti's are $450 from nvidia directly or $500 from evga, gigabyte etc.

I've looked at a few comparisons and they seem pretty fairly matched. I like how 1070's have lower wattage but even the 980 wouldn't be an issue since I originally bought a psu that is way more than I need. Also wondering if I should just wait till the 11 series cards drop so I can buy a 10 series card for a bit less.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

1070 Ti all the way, if you can afford it. The 980 Ti is as powerful as the 1070.

The 1070 Ti on the other hand, is closing the performance gap between the GTX 1080. The extra VRAM on the 1070 Ti is also going to help for future games too.

Or, you can also wait for the upcoming Volta cards that may come at the later half of this year. Do you want that sweet performance NOW, or LATER?
