Hey guys.
Recently I bought a 980TI from Gigabyte, and I'm a little bit worried about it's idle temps.
It stays around 47 - 49 degrees while browsing internet and stuff.
I didn't have a chance to test it on full load yet, because I just fresh installed my Windows.
Is that something I should be worried?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry for my english, not native speaker.

That does seem a bit high, what is your ambient temperature? Does opening the case help drop the temp at all? I assume the fans are off while idle?

Mines on 42/43c at moment running a 120hz screen and a 60hz screen, Netflix running on the 60hz one (Core @ 135 memory @ 405)

Whats your CPU @ just in case your whole case is hot mines @ 31c

My ambient temperature is around 25 - 26 right now. Opening the case doesn't seem to help.
Yep, the Gigabyte model keep the fans off until the card reaches a certain temperature (I thinks it's 50).
Thanks for the reply.

My CPU usually runs at 37 - 39 while browsing internet.
It's a I5 4690K.
I use air cooling only.
1 fan for output, and 2 fans for input.

Your idle temps seem normal, maybe the paste on your card just isn't great. What happens if you set the GPU fans to 45%?

Sir, I adjusted the fans to 45%, and now the temps are around 34 - 35 degrees.
Which one you calling "normal"? The CPU or GPU?
Thanks!

That's similar to my temps at 45% fan speed, I am currently sitting at 33c, I'm not sure why your temps are higher without the fan but check your load temps, if they are below 80-85c, there's no issue. I was referring to your CPU temps.

Should I try to apply a different thermal compound on it?
I saw on some reviews that the idle temperature is around 48C. That made me a little less worried.
I run a 3DMark test today (Fire Strike), and my temps on load was around 79C to 81C.
Thanks for the help!

Maybe the G1 just runs a little hotter than other models at idle then, 81c is a little high but still completely safe. I wouldn't recommend changing the paste while the card is within it's warranty. Was 81c on an automatic fan curve? If it was, try setting it manually to 60% or what you would think would be a good percentage and see how it does, this is because by default the cards aim to stay at around 80c.

Okay, I won't change the paste sir.
I've always used my GPU's on stock clocks, and I'm not planning to overclock my 980TI until I upgrade it on the future.
So, you think those temps are okay on a long term? Do you think it's going to impact somehow on it's lifespam?
Idle: 48C - 51C
Load: Really depends on the game, 70C - 81C
I appreciate your help!

Those temps are perfectly acceptable, the cards are designed to run at up to 85c without any issue. The lifespan won't be affected with 81c but you can always make a manual fan curve if you want it a bit lower :)
