Hi

I recently bought a 2nd hand GTX1660 Super video card. Now it works - sort of.

I first discovered a problem (that I wasn't told about - I bought the card in good faith) when entering the BIOS. After 2 seconds the screen would go black then display again.

I installed Linux Mint as a test to see if it would hold a stable display. Nope, no good. Same problem. Screen would flick on and off after 2 seconds and repeat.

So I tried another video card (GT640). Seems to have the same issue? So now I'm thinking the motherboard OR the monitor.

If it's the card (GTX1660) is it repairable? Or should it go to e-waste?

I'm sick of being a dumping ground for other people's crappy hardware. If a piece of hardware doesn't work - scrap it!! Don't lie and try to sell it on.

Well, if it happens with another graphics card, it probably isn't the 1660 Super, unless you got incredibly unlucky and somehow managed to obtain two GPUs with the exact same defect.

Beyond that, I unfortunately won't be much help.

All good. I had the same issue with a 3rd video card (RX6500XT) and I'm pretty sure it's actually the monitor, as I'm just testing the PC now with the RX6500XT card on a different monitor and it's stable.

So issue resolved.
