Not a pro at this stuff yet so wanted to get some opinions. Just wondering what, if anything, would be my bottleneck. Pii x6 1045t @2.8 8gb ram PNY GTX580 650 corsair psu on the way....

Also, wondering what a safe overclock would be for the 580

so basically get me a decent mobo for that chip (hp oem now) and oc the crud out of it? i figured oc the x6 and still it would bottleneck the gpu, obviously tho im no expert, correct me if im wrong.

with an oc you should be just fine

the x6 is weaker per core then p2 x4 so in the end you would have been better with a 955 or 965... for gaming that is.. the x6 is still a very serviceable cpu imo given the right setup that is and I think with an oc you will be fine running a 580

The X6 is weaker per core?? It has a slightly smaller L3 cache, but otherwise they are the same.

So a X6 1090T will perform almost exactly as a X4 955 in games that use 4 cores or less.

Anything over 3.3ghz likely will not bottleneck that video card.

^well Ive heard otherwise from some reputable people on this forum although Im not about to go out and research it.... so for now ill take your word for it but maybe someone else can shed some light on this matter bc I was under the impression that deneb is stronger per core the thuban clock for clock

yeah Im aware I was just referring to gaming and the more extension oc ability of the c3 deneb over the thuban, so for gaming if you can achieve a higher clock I guess you will see a marginal or small benefit, thats basically what I was getting at, the x6 is def no slouch though and I was never really saying that

I came across some supposed system requirements for BF3 here: http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/battlefield-3-pc-system-requirements/ so take a look, you should be ok though I think :)
