Hi there,

I have a GTX 660 and when I start my pc it's fine the bios displays fine as soon as it starts loading windows then this happens see pics any way to fix it, I have already replaced the thermal paste on the gpu processor, but that didn't help?

My pc specs:
CPU Q9400
Motherboard Foxconn P45A-s
RAM 8Gb Dual channel 800Mhz OCZ Platinum at CL4
GPU EVGA GTX660SC

See pics: https://imgur.com/a/q6ej6

Thank you very much

Try starting computer in safemode, clean wipe all video drivers and install new ones, if that dont fix it, try to find a working video card somewhere and replace it with your current one, in my personal experience, video corruptions like that can be a faulty GPU, maybe more pics of the corruption? does the desktop fully load?

The desktop doesn't load after that it just sits there, the desktop may have loaded but I can't see anything, I have put another gpu in and it works fine, any quick easy fix? It looks all normal I am comparing to another 660 I have and it looks the same.

So installing a different video card solves the problem?, looks like your old 660 is done, nothing you can do, probably something deep inside the circuit board got fried, unless you are some kind of experienced PCB circuit board engineer, there is no quick fix.

Keep is as a souvenir or thrown it in the garbage.

Ill try downclocking it on bake it lol
It seems to be working in safe mode with low resolution? its running at 640 x 480

I disagree. When he installs a differtent video card, Windows resorts to the Windows Default Video Drivers, so it is more likely than anything a driver related problem. If the BIOS is perfectly fine, I can't see in any manner how it could be a video card hardware problem, because it would then be distorted in the BIOS, too.

That is, unless the video card ain't doing the video processing in the BIOS. I'll research this.

So as soon as i rebooted for the windows gpu drivers it black screens, the pc is running and that's it nothing else is displayed on the screen

Yip first time it works fine. as soon as windows installs the video driver it wants to restart and when it comes back nothing is displayed.
Would flashing the gpu bios help? The card is already broken how much more can it get lol.

Wouldn't it reinstall it again? It won't be able to boot into normal windows.
I plugged another gpu into the pc and using the other gpu to see the screen afterburner can see the 660 and I have downclocked it. So it does kinda work..

I have tried it on 2 different hard drives and both do the same thing. One of the hard drives I tried is running a fresh copy of Windows 7.

Ok, but is the problem occurring on both hard drives only with your old 660? or with both 660's?

Just the broken one. Both display similar things one goes a blue ish screen the other a full black screen.
