Im creating a new gaming rig http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/MgppJx , however I'm unsure whether to wait for the 8gb release of the gtx980, if it will actually release, as i want to future proof against games needing more than 4gbvram... SOM for example... Does anyone know anything about when it will be released and what the price of it will be? I'll be so pissed if in two years i get bottlenecked because of the 4gbvram... I've seen some reports that it will be released in March however none of them seem reliable. Thanks

are u going to play 4K with anti aliasing enabled? so u can get 10FPS? and use 3.7~GB of Vram?

if you are going to play 2K or 1080P dont wait for the 8GB it is a waste of money how ever if u can wait than might as well wait for the R9 380X with HBM

and a price drop on the GTX980 is coming with that garenteed

i got my 7950 back in 2012 3 years later still didn't even hit 3GB on the Vram

MAX i have ever seen was BF hardline with 140% on the res slider with anti alising off and post processing off on ultra

I wouldn't say too weak, one of the key advantages of maxwell is that it can do a lot more with way less bandwidth (which is why you see such small buses on these cards).

You mean 7GB 970 and 8GB 980? 😀

don't think the bandwidth is enough to justify 8gb, I understand Maxwell is capable of doing more with less, but 8gb might just be to pad the bottom line of the cards. I cant see these cards making use of more than the 4gb they come with.
