At my company, we are considering offering free wifi to customers. I wish to set up a separate SSiD for this, and wish to throttle the max bandwidth that can be used. We do not care if we have 1 or 100 people connecting, and we do not care if it bogs them down. We want to ensure that our company's internet access will not be impacted because so many customers are watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones on their devices.
At this moment, a 2nd ISP is not an option. We anticipate having to bump up our speed to accommodate our customers, but we don't want to pay double our existing bill.
For obvious reasons, we don't want to have to assign IPs, or track mac addresses. Our plan is to make this open, with no security. If it becomes abused, or if the FBI comes knocking on our door, we will take the necessary steps at that time to put a more secure system in place.
We currently have an old Linksys WRT110 router. I fully anticipate having to replace it, but didn't know if a firmware upgrade might open options to us.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good router that will let us accomplish this ? Hoping to keep the price under $200, if this is possible.
