I don't really care about Guild Wars 2, but I signed up anyway. Who knows? I might actually enjoy it.

Guild wars 2 incorporated a lot of things from the MMO Dark age of Camelot. I live only for WvWvW aka DAOC RvR.

about gw1... the real way to upgrade your character were acquiring the skills and mixing them... and that my friends was only possible with knowledge of the game... because you can get all the skills and the correct bar with a monk... but you dont know how to used them and specially the time to do so... then you are an usuless character in the group... the only real way to be good in guildwars was nothing to do with the gears... was about the skill of the players... and thats the best part of gw, and I think if even in gw2 all the skill and crafting system is different...they will continue with that spirit...

This was the reason I left WoW and many other games. They reward you for putting a lot of time/money into the game rather than trying to play it well and intelligently. The low level cap and relative insignificance of equipment in GW was specifically for the casual gamer that just wanted to play through the story with a few friends. You could complete the whole campaign at your own pace without having to farm items or wait for random drops. The special collectors armor and green items are for the people that want to dump a lot of time into the game. They get rewarded with special looking stuff, but not with game-breaking abilities. The 8 skill limit and maximum attributes are a reward to those that really want to think about the game. Instead of just gathering skills and spamming spells, you have to formulate an actual plan. Everyone hits the same caps pretty fast so you all have roughly the same pool to work with. It's not about who can gather the most crap, it's about who can be the most efficient/creative/devious with what they've got. Kind of like playing StarCraft on a limited resource map.

I've played the original since beta ( and I should be coming up on a 7th year birthday gift for my characters, strange. ) Maybe that will get me some extra clout to be accepted in this beta.
