Hey guys yesterday i connected my 2TB external HDD to 42 inch LG's LED TV but now when i connected that HDD to my PC then i found many files and other imp. is missing.

But i found many of my folders which contain really important data and tutorials and books and documents and movies were gone and i'm kinda really pissed off

So guys is there any way that i could recover that gone data and interesting thing is i checked hidden files too but the HDD can't read that data and before connecting it to led tv there was 71.8GB free space outta 2TB on my HDD but after this data loss there is same space used means still 71.8GB free only...

I would really appreciative every suggestions and please give any ideas which worked for you or which can work and do the miracle.

Please guys.

Hey there, SHA991!

Since the free space is still the same as before, I'd recommend you to try unhiding the files and folders from the external. It's possible that they have gone hidden. Here's a tutorial that might help you with the procedure: http://www.wikihow.com/Unhide-Folders-in-Windows-7
In the future, I'd recommend you to keep your data stored on more than one HDD so that you can avoid such headaches and make sure that your data is safe and sound. Sometimes swapping an external NTFS-formatted drive from one device to another could cause file system corruption as well, which could result in real data loss. Give the unhiding a try and then some third-party data recovery tools as @Ralph suggested. Hopefully, you'd get your hands on...

Keep us posted with the troubleshooting, though!
