When Windows 10 first went to reserve status I put my PC on the list, it downloaded, now it says that my PC is not supported??? Why did it pass on the first check and then download Windows 10 if it was not possible to install. What changed with Windows 10? I mean did the requirements change mid-launch and drop support for a lot of older machines. I have another PC with less hardware and only 1gb and it installed Windows 10 just fine. However I plan to stay with Win 7 Ultimate as I see no advantage to go to Win 10 since several features are missing...

So... what's the problem then?
No, seriously, if your PC is above a Intel Core 2 Duo (2007+) it will happily run Windows 10. Dell might have marked it as unsupported to MS to get you to go out and buy another PC but it should be if it meets the above requirement. What are the specs?
It could also be software compatibility - for example some older games will not run on Win10 but will on Win7.
