Hi guys, I got a straight-forward question. So basically I bought this old motherboard Gygabyte GA-MA770-UD3 and I want to install a Power Supply Unit onto it. This mobo has a 24-pin and a 4-pin connectors.

I want to go for a PSU costing around 30 euros, preferably 500W and as un-loud as possible.

P.S. please do not punish me with comments such as: "omg, this mobo sucks, go buy more expensive" etc. I am quite new in the subject and really want to stay in my price range, which I already went above with.

Thanks!!

OMG! I have this motherboard in my wife's computer. It was my daily driver and gaming PC for years!

I'm running an Antec EarthWatts 430W in it and it is sufficient for the Phenom II x3 720 BE (4th core unlocked and overclocked to 3.2GHz) and R9 270X that is in it. It is an older power supply, but it should let you know what you can get away with if you want to go less expensive. Honestly, a lower end power supply from a reputable brand like SeaSonic or Antec would work well.

I am currently looking for PSUs, but most of them are ATX ver. 2 (or more), whereas my Motherboard is said to support ATX PSU. Could that result in a problem? Or newer versions of the ATX could work with older ones?

No, that won't be a problem at all. Any ATX power supply will support any ATX motherboard. A newer standard would actually be better. There have been changes through the years in features and power distribution internal to the PSU and in efficency. However, the compatibility from version 1.0 to the latest is the same. As long as you have the connectors you need and an adequate rating, it doesn't matter what version of ATX power supply you have.

Any PSU? Mate your answer isnt good, ATX standard is since 1999-2001 (not quite sure), but using older powersupply's I wouldn't recommend even to the lowest wattage PC, cause;
1. Fire hazzard,
2. Bad caps can be
3. Also the voltage regulation is waaay off
4. Bad caps, bad voltage regulation = dead motherboard

Also FSP group is good.

I really wouldn't recommend you buying an PSU older than 3 and also check for warranty, also yes i made wrong answer up there suggesting you, but i wanted to say finding good used PSU's with a long warranty is a good shot for cheap units,

Im not saying that I buy always best PSU's , I have in my secondary rig an MS-400W ATX it works without an issue but not 24/7.

I agree that any PSU will work, but that is like saying, driving on road is safe as long as you drive carefully but there might be another guy who will risk your life.

I did say any PSU, but, and this is a big but, I've always recommended reputable brands. A good early Antec running the 1.0 standard will run a modern system. There may be some adapters involved, but it will be fine. So, I'm not recommending going out and getting a $15 1000W PSU, because obviously lots of corners were cut and the first time you put it under load you'll have a fireworks show in your case (hope you have a window LOL). Yeah, the caveat there is always buy from a reputable brand with a good warranty, just in case.
