Hi All

Basically I'm in the process of moving and my PC broke. I won't be able to fix it for a good month or two and have an old I5 7500 my kids used to play with. I looked at the PC and found the Bios is version 20 from 2016 to update it to run Gen 7 Intel. I figured I'd update the BIOS so I went onto the website found the most current version which I found would add some microcode protection and went to download it.

I started by downloading onto my PC, then I renamed it GIGABYTE.BIN and downloaded it onto a USB configured as FAT 32 however when I then reboot my PC and press the End key there is no option for me to then download the new BIOS is just acts as if nothing is there. Thinking it might be the USB I replaced it and used another and the same thing happened.

I'd like to use this PC until I can get settled as I will have a man cave for my rigs and there is no point fixing my other rig for a few months. I know W10 is ending so I was going to pay the $30 to use W10 until I can get my rig up and running. I'm not sure how safe the PC is with an old 2016 Bios as that is before Spectre and Meltdown if I recall correctly.

Is this;

the motherboard you're working with?

You'll need BIOS version F20 to drop in a 7th Gen intel processor onto the socket but what BIOS version are you currently on?

You don't need to rename the BIOS file, just copy over the BIOS file to your USB drive's root directory. It should show up in Q-Flash menu.
