Hey guys, I Just built my new rig. Overall I'm happy with the performance but like everything I want to maximise it!
Should I add two more fans on the Kraken x63 radiator?
Full build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/khy8vW

CPU:
  • Idle: - 45-65c (Spikes around. But most of the time 45-50c)
  • Playing games: 60-70c

GPU:
  • Idle: 50c
  • Playing games: 78-86c

The rad doesn't block air as much as it diffuses it, all the pressure has been used up. So there's relatively little going directly to the gpu. It's mostly being drawn to the rear exhausts in a straight line. Adding at least 1 fan on the interior of the rad will increase pressure a lot and shove a ton of air under the gpu.

Plus, you'll not need to run the intakes all that fast with the increased airflow.

I think it could have the opposite effect, but I'm not too sure, as I've only built in one and just left it at the stock dual exhaust config.
The case was marketed for a negative pressure setup, and as it is currently with the front rad intake and single rear exhaust, the OP already has positive pressure.
Gamers' Nexus tested a few configurations in that case and showed that front intake actually worsens gpu temps: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3309-nzxt-h500-case-review-thermals-noise-vs-s340

It's worth a shot... It might keep the gpu from thermal throttling.
  • Playing games: 78-86c
That is a few degrees too hot mate. The throttle temp for many of these cards is 83C.
[Looks like it's 84C for your particular model. Still high.]

Yeah I've not had this problem before but my old PC case was a corsair 750 airflow and the intake air wasn't hot air from the radiator. Tricky situation.

If I brought a different card, this one:

Mounted on the rear would that resolve anything? Trying to come up with solutions :)

corsair 750 airflow
😗 Big case.
This case also allowed for much more air through the front VS the H510 you have now - it simply had more breathing room for the gpu all around; front, bottom, and back.
Now, bottom and front airflow are reduced, and thus the gpu has to draw most of the cool air from the rear of the case.
There's also the matter of the design of the H500 series being designed around negative pressure: case exhaust should be stronger than the intakes.
At the moment, with the single exhaust and the AIO with 2 fans as an intake, the case likely has changed to positive pressure, which isn't the best setup for gpu temps in the H510 specifically.

Now, you could fix all this by way of the above hybrid cooler, but it's not without it's downsides though.
An alternative would be to simply put stronger fans at the rear and top exhausts.

I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and sell the case, and get the H710i (I love cam software and the control, I know it's weird! Because cam actually works for me.)

After reviewing Gamersnexus it seems like a decent choice for me. Because I can put the rad on top, big rear exhaust fan and then have the fans at the front blowing in fresh, cool air. What do you think?

Well, it IS NZXT's answer for the limitations of the H500 series while still keeping to the style after all...

Funny that you mention that. I guess that makes it one of those hit and miss products, just like the RX 5700s drivers...
Then again, many issues can be attributed to PEBCAC.
