I'm trying to help someone else out with this issue.

They received a legitimate email to their Yahoo email account from Apple about "your Apple ID was used to sign in to iMessage on a MacBook named DMNXXXXXX [Moderator redaction]". I suspect that someone got ahold of their Apple password somehow. They don't think they've used their Apple account in several years. They don't own a MacBook or any Apple products.

Over a period of 24 hrs, they received 4 of these emails about the MacBook, but each MacBook had a different name.

Can anyone tell me why there would be four different names?

These are definitely legitimate Apple emails.

I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. It sounds like someone is using their Apple ID. But it sounds like someone used their ID on 4 different MacBooks.

Obviously they need to change their Apple password, but we're concerned about what someone is doing with their Apple ID and what damage may have already been done. Is someone using their Apple account on stolen MacBooks? Is this malware? Why haven't they received any more emails about this? Why did it just occur within a 24hr period? It's just weird.

Contact Apple.

Note: I redacted the MacBook name you posted.

Having that name public could make things worse....

Indeed weird; however, Forum rules prohibit assistance with password problems.

There is no way we can truly known the situation and circumstances.

Closing thread.
