Had this happen to you before?

My friend's com just recently installed windows xp. the weird thing is that he told me after he changed the admin account's name, there's two name appeared on the welcome screen. but after he restarted the com, only one name appeared on the welcome screen. and now, he's having problem because he cannot open any program at all. Any suggestions?

It sounds like he created a new user account and didn't give the account Administrative privileges. He'll likely have to go into safemode, press the F8 key just as Windows is starting, and log in as Administraor. Then go to Control Panel, User, and give the other User Administrative privleges. If he gives the user a password, it best be one he'll remember. You don't have to use a password.
