I'm running into a problem where the AI seems to freeze. The enemies
don't respond anymore even though I can run around doing anything else.
I've had to start a new game several times now. Any ideas?

BTW -- I have the Half-Life 2 DVD edition...

Thanks...

Bring down console.

Type: sv_cheats 1
Type: ai_disable

Pray I'm not helping a pirate who's covering by saying they have a legit
version of the game...

Do you read these posts before you go off on one?

Valve are not stopping anyone from buying the game. They are even
offering you the choice of buying it in a box or just downloading it
direct to your PC.

You might not like the product, but that is your decision. Valve is not
stopping you from buying it.

LOL.

It must be the "scripted AI" that a few guys have been touting. Either
that or you have a pirate copy..

with the presence of steam any bug even major a pc game has is
completely secundary, cause BUG bigger than steam there is not!

Ahhh but the pirated version doesn't have problems with it, only the "legal"
one. So rest assured you are dealing with somebody who did it the Valve way.
:)

But no, I've not had this problem doing things the "Valve" way. I've
only heard about this problem with pirated version (some of them, anyway).

With me, the "AI Disabled" bug started during the swamp boat level. Once
activated, it appeared every time I started HL2. I went looking through the
cfg files and found a key-mapping to 'AI disable' in the secondary cfg file
(didn't work from there), and copied this line into the primary cfg file,
mapping it to an unused Function key. Thereafter, start HL2, tap the F key
and no more problems. As a bonus, it is a toggle, so if you're really in BIG
trouble e.g. you NEED rockets and know there must be a supply someplace
near, but keep getting fragged before you can find them, tap the F key, find
the rockets and reload, tap the F key and resume the battle. Handy cheat. :)

WRONG!
that's one of the fights against steam!
steam in infecting the retail channel!
valve has no right in using intrusive steam in the retail market!
steam only for use in the internet!
no retail pc game should have something so damaging like steam!
we want steam out of the retail channel!
i've been complaining since the beginning that half-life 2 version
sold in retail with steam is an aberration and should be stopped
immediately!
being it in a "box" and in cd-rom is a lie to try and hide steam!
half-life 2 HAS NO REAL RETAIL VERSION! what they have is a big lie!

> You might not like the product, but that is your decision. Valve is not

i don't like the product???? i LOVE the product!
i would love to buy and play half-life 2!
i've been complaining since november about not being able to play a pc
game that i waited almost 5 years to arrive!
i would adore playing hl2!
valve doesn't let me!
valve said to me NO!
valve threw me and millions of other pc gamers to the TRASH!
that's what i've been complaining since the beginning!
so don't ever tell me i don't like hl2! cause i do!
what i hate, what i really hate is STEAM!
STEAM I HATE!

It stopped trying to make sense some time ago, and it stopped being
amusing even before that.

Then why don't you enable God mode and/or impulse 101 if you really want
to start cheating and ruining the game? Unless of course you like the
bullet-time effect of being able to move around with everyone else being
frozen in time.

I posted a permanent and easy solution to the AI Freeze problem, one which
many can benefit from (much more convenient than using the console). The
rest is irrelevant.

Actually, I used it as a cheat twice, once to locate a rocket stash in the
'Walker' level and once to spot a sniper's position. My HL2 was not ruined
at all by this but thanks for your concern.

Thank you for your help. I will try this out tonight.

BTW -- it only seems to happen when I try to load a saved game. It
never happens while I'm playing the game or when I start a new game.

Thanks again!

I GOT IT ....
