I wish to set up a LAN for playing Half Life Counter Strike. I have three pc's and also want to connect to the i/net to play online at the same time.

As I understand it, I will need three ethernet cards, a hub and cable. The generic ethernet cards (10/100) seem to all cost £18, is this too cheap and are they the fastest option? I have heard of double speed hubs do they increase the rate by 100%?

Can ppl recommend ethernet cards makes aswell as a hub (at least for 6 pcs) for the fastest connection along with ne tweaks that I will need. I know I need to add IPX/SPX and TCP/IP in the network option of windows but is this all.

How do I set up an online game and allow the others in the LAN to join through the LAN?

Thx in advance.

there are 10mb/s and 100mb/s hubs. get the 100mb.
as to your half life question. just go to the lan game option and create a game and that's all to it...
