Hard Disk Error Message

I keep getting a message on windows that there is a problem with one of my hard drives.
It suggests I do a backup and run the check Disk utility. I di a Check Disk for errors using the UI, it shows no errors.
When I do a full detailed check from the command prompt, it shows no errors as well.
I can access all files on the HDD I can move files around, add new files, delete files,
so it appears that the Drive is functioning properly. What else can I do to check it?

This first thing you should really do, is to just back up the data stored on the drive until you sort this out.
After that, you can use some HDD testing tool that will provide a SMART report. You can use one of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
