Guys please help me..My Hard Disk (internal) is making a little noise ...and the windows is not starting..I guess its damag d ..can I recover the data from it by any means..its being recognized in BIOS..but the Windows doesn't start..While Booting it shows a "Disk Read error..press alt+Ctrl+Del to restart" And sometimes the windows starts but only the wallpaper gets displayed...no response occur after that...what to do??

Previously I was getting a PXE-E61 media check failure while boring..now when. I Changed the first boot option from CD/DVD to HdD then the above problems occurred..Can it be due to a CMOS battery problem

Solution
Do a hard rest of the BIOS/CMOS.
Pull out the battery and wait 10 sec.
Make sure your hard drives are set to ACHI.
Also, see if you have the option that SMART is enabled.

Check the HDD.

The hard drive may just be failing.

Try booting off of Linux and see if you still have problems.
