so when i plugged in my hd on my computer it detect as a local disk D: but when i tried double click on it won't load, like it stopped halfway through. it didn't even show how big my hd file is and what type file system is

i already tried the ''chkdsk'' thing.... but still whenever i tried to run it, it stuck but when i unplugged my hd it runs perfectly normal

my disk management does the same thing too, it freezes the whole time till i unplugged it

so is there any BEST solution for this? help me, i can't even ''format'' or view ''properties''

If your HD hasn't been detected anywhere then it is dead i suppose. Try for new HD as this wont last anymore now. Try to take out important data through software or services which ever is suitable to you.

Hey there,

Do you see the drive in Disk management? You can access it in the following way (Win7): http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/disk-management-windows-7.htm If it does show up there, then you could try running a test with the diagnostic tool of the manufacturer. Which brand is your drive? Have you tried connecting the hdd to another computer? If it gets detected there, it would be good to make a backup of your data.

Regards

yeah i've been thinking the same, i just wanna take out the important data (one of the reasons why i didnt wanna format it) my other friends said my hd is full and its very slow to read. well actually i got this hd from my old laptop which i took out 'bout weeks ago and thought wanna make it for external use only but it didnt work as i planned so might wanna buy a new one. thanks anyway for your rep. :) have a nice day
