hard disk remaining on

Hi experts...i am facing some issues my PC, when i shut down my laptop my hard disk still remains on , and it stops only when the battery is completely drained please help me fix this issue.

Here's a few questions:
1) Are you sure you turned off the computer and not just put it into sleep?
2) Are you sure it's the HDD and not a fan?
3) Are there any special features in your computer?
4) Have you updated the computer to the newest BIOS revision your manufacturer has?
