Hard-Drive about to fail. How to replace?

I have 2 hd's. my C one is about to fail (main) how do i save everything on there, and copy it onto a new drive?

Do i burn a system image onto a dvd, the just put the new drive in and boot it from the dvd?

It would never fit on a DVD, you need to transfer everything including all the partition to new disk of same or greater size. As it can't be just copied across you have to use a program like: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx to clone old drive to new one.
