hard drive activity light stops working during boot

when my dell precision T3600 boots, the hard drive activity light starts flashing as you'd expect. A few seconds after "windows starting" appears on the screen, however, the activity light stops flashing and never flashes again until the next boot. the system boots ok and runs fine. dell has replaced the motherboard; this made no difference. anyone know how to fix this?

Hi there billgovols,

Is this a secondary drive? Usually, drives are flashing when reading/writing. If the drive is not accessed in any way, I guess it should not be flashing. Apart from that, it will not hurt if you run some diagnostic tool in order to check out its health status.

After installing Windows 10, my hard drive activity light works perfectly.
