I'm new to pc's and I'm going to be building my own. For the hard drive and cd drive I know you need a sata power cable and my psu has 6 but they both need a sata data cable and I was wondering if I could use these http://www.amazon.com/Aleratec-SATA-Data-Cable-2pk/dp/B004Q7K3XM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411611196&sr=1-3&keywords=sata+data+cable. Also what do I need on my motherboard to plug the sata data cables, on my motherboards website it says I have 6 SATA 6 Gb/s are those right for them or no?

Check your mobo box for free sata cables. Generic sata data cables are red (just like the ones in your link) and most free cables from boards I've seen are black.

Alright I watched an unboxing video of my motherboard and leon you were right it comes with 4 black sata data cables but I'm still going with those red one I think they will look nice for my black/red theme and they're only $6.

Just make sure they're Sata 3 rated. Most are, but better to be sure. Good luck on your build.

"SATA 3 rated" is just marketing hype! Don't fall for it! All SATA cables will do SATA 3 speeds.

There are more important specs to consider, like locking clips on the cable plugs, the length of the cables, and 90 degree plugs, which you may or may not need.
