Hard Drive Concerns

So, I'm building a new desktop PC, because my current one is failing quickly these days. I want to take the hard drive from my current computer, which has all my files and whatnot on it, and put it into my new computer so that i will have all my files and whatnot without having to transfer data to a new hard drive.

The main concern or question I have is that my current PC is running windows 7, and my new one will be running windows 8.1. Will that screw anything up? like formatting or anything? Also Im going from AMD to Intel, just another thing I thought of.

Mainly, can i just stick the hard drive in and expect it to work fine?

Thanks for the help, it means alot!

Solution
if your just gonna use it as a secondary drive there should be few issues. the main 1 would likely be taking ownership of the drive and contents.
other than that it should be a straight swap.
